Monica Morrissey, 86, Longtime Briarcliff Resident

BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. – Monica Mary Dolan Morrissey, a longtime resident of Briarcliff Manor and later Greenwich, Conn., died Aug. 19 after a prolonged battle with cancer. She was 86. 

Morrissey was lifelong active member of the Junior League and Philipsburg Manor historical site. She was also a New York Giants fan. She was married to Charles "Chick" D Morrissey, who predeceased her.

Morrissey is survived by a son, David J. Morrissey, of Holt, Mich.; a daughter, Christine (Peter) Duncan, of Rye; a brother, Thomas Dolan, of Old Greenwich, Conn.; a sister-in-law, Sister Margaret Morrissey RHSM; a son-in-law, Martin Topp, of San Diego; a daughter-in-law, Mary James Morrissey, of Port Orange, Fla.; and six grandchildren. 

Burial will be private. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday at The Osborn chapel in Rye.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the College of Mount St. Vincent in Riverdale, N.Y.
