BRIARCLIFF, N.Y. -- Margaret M. (Scholes) Schwartz, of Briarcliff Manor, died Sunday, Sept. 20.
She was 89.
She was a registered nurse who worked at the Montrose Veteran's Administration Hospital (now known as VA Hudson Valley) until she retired in 1988.
She was born in Mahanoy City, Pa., on Feb. 26, 1926, and graduated from Mahanoy City High School.
She then earned her degree as a registered nurse from the Thomas Jefferson School of Nursing in Philadelphia and practiced her profession in various offices and hospitals in Florida, North Carolina, Connecticut and New York.
She settled in Briarcliff in 1974.
She is survived by her daughter, Wendy Gardner of Bedford; her two granddaughters; and her brother, Robert Scholes of Lebanon, Pa.
She was predeceased by her sister, Faye Pearson.
A memorial service will be held at the Congregational Church of Briarcliff at 11 a.m. on Wednesday..
