Longtime Ossining Resident, Former Schools Superintendent Dies At 67

Longtime Northern Westchester resident Paul Fried, who served as superintendent of two Westchester school districts and assistant superintendent at another, has died at age 67.

Fried came to White Plains on July 1, 2015 from Montville Township, N.J., where he had been superintendent for five years. Fried went on medical leave a year after arriving in White Plains before resigning from his position later in 2016.

Prior to that, he was superintendent of the Mamaroneck School District from 2005 to 2010 and was a principal and assistant superintendent in Ossining for the previous 19 years. 

During his tenure in Mamaroneck, Fried contributed to the implementation of several important initiatives which focused on student and parent engagement, teacher effectiveness and the needs of a diverse community.

Fried lived in Ossining with his family.

A funeral service is scheduled for Temple Israel Northern Westchester in Croton-on-Hudson on Wednesday, April 25 at noon.
