John Dvorozniak, 89, Of Briarcliff, Navy Veteran, Retired Accountant

BRIARCLIFF, N.Y. - John Dvorozniak, 89, of Briarcliff, died Monday, April 13.

He was the oldest son of the late Amelia and John Dvorozniak.

Dvorozniak enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944, and served as a deck gunner in the Pacific.

He later worked as an accountant for a number of companies, including Sonitone, United Nuclear, Automatic Signal, Grumann, and Reichold Chemicals.

After his retirement, he volunteered as an AARP tax preparer, worked at the Westchester County Archives, and served as an election poll monitor.

Survivors include his wife, Pearl Gryskiewicz Dvorozniak; four sons, John of Leadville, Colo., Mark (Michelle) of Manhattan, Michael of Briarcliff, and Matthew (Marie) of Cresskill, N.J.; three daughters, Christine (Milton) Herman of Croton, Adrienne of Albany, and Amy (Andy) Einhorn of Mendham, N.J.; one brother, George of Pinehurst, N.C.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be private.

S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, of Plymouth, Pa., is handling the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Recreation Department at NYS Veterans Home at Montrose, 2090 Albany Post Road, Montrose, NY 10548.
