BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. – Concerts, a spring tea luncheon, summer camp sessions and a firefighter parade highlight weekend events around Briarcliff Manor. 

Friday, May 4

The Ossining Public Library’s “Get Your GED” Program: 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Tutors will be available for free every Friday in the teen room. For more information, residents are asked to contact Robin Osborne at the Westchester Library System at 914-231-3237 or rosborne@wlsmail.org.

Tech Workshop: 10:30 a.m.-noon. The Briarcliff Manor Public Library presents EXPLORING EXCEL (Beginner). Using Microsoft Excel, residents will learn the basics of how to set up a spreadsheet to display and manipulate data. Computer Help at the Ossining Public Library: 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Free drop-in help with computers. Residents can learn how to navigate Web pages and create documents in Microsoft programs. For more information, residents are asked to contact Cheryl at 914-941-2416, ext. 315.

Kids’ Book Sale at the Ossining Public Library: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The Friends of the Ossining Public Library will offer a wide range of gently used books for preschoolers to teens at bargain prices, Thursday, May 3, 5-8 p.m.; Friday, May 4, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sale in the theater will be open during the school district's opening night reception for the student art exhibit.

Saturday, May 5

200th Anniversary Parade for the Ossining Volunteer Fire Department: 3-10 p.m. Parade steps off at 3 p.m. from the intersection of Croton Avenue and Calam Avenue and continues down Croton Avenue, across Route 9, down Main Street then Secor Road. There will also be marching bands, local, county and state dignitaries and dozens of fire department representatives from around the state. The parade is expected to last nearly three hours and will end at the waterfront.

St. Paul’s on-the-Hill “Spring Fling”: 10 a.m.-3 p.m. The Lantern Gift Shop at St. Paul's on-the-Hill Episcopal Church in Ossining will feature "Spring Fling," a celebration of spring and mom. A Spring Tea Luncheon will be served in the Parish Hall from noon until 2:30 p.m. Cost for the luncheon will be $10. For further information, call the church at 914-941-6627.

Club Fit’s 2012 Gear Up for Summer Camp: 6 p.m-8 p.m. The two-hour camp features prizes, summer camp information and a sample of the camp experience. For more information, call Jack Walsh at 914-762-3444, ext. 2128.

Storytime and Crafts: 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Storytime for 2- to 6-year-olds with caregivers at the Briarcliff Manor Public Library. Registration is requested.

Derrick N. Ashong & Soulfege Concert Benefitting Ossining MATTERS: 6:30 p.m. The fundraising concert benefits the Ossining MATTERS Education Foundation. Elementary school children will also perform. The concert begins at 6:30 p.m. at Ossining High School. Tickets are $15 student/senior/OUFSD teacher, $35 adult, $125 premium (includes gala post-concert reception and auction sponsored by and held at Atria on the Hudson). The Ossining Public Library’s Photography Class: 1-3 p.m. Residents can learn various photography techniques as a part of this weekly class. To register prior to the class, residents are asked to contact Director Jim Farrell at 914-941-2416, ext. 333.

9th Annual Classic Car Cruiser Show: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The Annual Classic Car Cruiser Show hosted by Columbus Lodge #692 in affiliation with the Village of Ossining PBA will be held at the Ossining Train Station. The show features DJ Johnny G. Prepaid cost: $15 per car or motorcycle if registered before April 28th. Show date tickets are $20 per car or motorcycle. Willie Nile Concert at Ossining Public Library: 2-5 p.m. The concert takes place in the Ossining Public Library’s Budarz Theater. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis for the free concert.
