Wet Weather Hurts Briarcliff Manor Tennis Courts

BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. – Briarcliff Manor is planning to have a licensed firm check the village’s tennis courts, which were heavily affected by last month’s heavy rains, Village Manager Philip E. Zegarelli announced in his July report.

June was recorded as the second wettest June on record in Briarcliff Manor, and heavy rains saturated the clay courts, Zegarelli’s report said.  Now, the tennis courts appear to have some sort of mold growing on them, he said.

“The heavy rain has saturated the clay courts which by their composition, do not drain off like other surfaces,” he said.  “It is our understanding that dry, warm weather will help cure this problem naturally ... In the meantime, review your surroundings and be careful of slippery areas.”
