BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. One lane and several parking spaces will be closed on Pleasantville Road in the downtown area next Monday and Tuesday due to work being done by Exxon in conjunction with village Groundwater and Environmental Services workers on new and existing wells.
The work is being done around a former Exxon station on Pleasantville Road that is now a Verizon store. It is required by the state Department of Environmental Conservation, said Superintendent of Public Works Edward Torhan in a press release.
The work is scheduled to occur Aug. 29 and Aug. 30 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
"As no time is a good time to undertake this type of work, especially in the Central Business District, we have directed GES to undertake the work in the late summer prior to Labor Day and before school starts hopefully having the least impact," Torhan said. "To aid in the public safety and good order, the Briarcliff village manager has required GES to pay for village police presence during this project."
