Volleyball Referee Broke Ossining Man's Nose: Cops

OSSINING, N.Y. – An Ossining man suffered from a fractured nose after he was hit in the face and nose by a volleyball referee, police said.

The victim, Luis Ortiz, told police he got into a verbal dispute with a referee known to him as "Jimmy" on July 23 while playing volleyball near North Malcolm Street and Sarah Street at around 7:20 p.m.

"Jimmy" hit Ortiz from behind while Ortiz had his back to him, police said.

Ortiz filed a report on Wednesday, police said.

A man removed a box with 60 packets of K2 Incense from a Getty gas station on Bell Avenue on Thursday at around 8:30 p.m., police said.

A gas station employee said the man was a white male who left the station in a black, older model Nissan, police said.
