Vigil For Orlando Tops Briarcliff Village Manager's Report

BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. -- The following is the village manager’s report from Philip Zegarelli:

The Briarcliff Congregational Church will have an evening vigil focused on the Orlando massacre at 7 p.m. Saturday. 

The 6th Annual Ron Jankowski “Father's Day” 5K Run/Walk through Briarcliff Manor will take place Saturday at Law Park. Registration begins at 7 a.m. and the 5K starts at 8 a.m. 

The Village Hall's summer hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 8 a.m. to noon Fridays.

Seasonal hydrant flushing commences Monday and continues until Friday. Flushing will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hydrants in the following areas will be flushed: Scarborough Road from Ridgecrest Road north to Old Briarcliff Road including: Brookwood Drive, Becker and Shadowbrook Lanes; Holbrook, Macy, Orchard Roads and all side streets including: Argyle Place, Holbrook and Apple Lanes and Magnolia, Meadow and Farm Roads. Residents can expect discolored water at any time from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and may want to avoid activities such as laundry. 

Village Treasurer:

Tax bills for 2016-17 should have been delivered and are available for payment online and at Village Hall. The first installment is due July 1. If you did not receive your 2016-17 tax bill, visit the Village Hall or call 914-944-2723 before the due date.

Library and Community Center:

Briarcliff Manor Public Library will host "Online Marketing: Strategies and Tools for an Effective Online Presence" from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday.

Word Games Group will meet on Tuesdays from June 28 through Aug. 9 from 5:15-6 p.m. The group features games such as Boggle, word puzzles, hangman and more and is open to fourth-graders and up. Contact Amy Kaplan at abgkaplan@gmail.com or 914-941-7072 to register.

The annual School's Out for Summer Party will take place inside the library from 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday. The party will feature games, crafts, snacks and a live DJ.

Recreation and Parks:

The Youth Center Basketball Court expansion and rehabilitation is now complete. The court is open from 9 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and is available for public play when not in use by Youth Center members. 

The center is open to members from 6-10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

The village pool is open. The pool will be open from 3-7:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, and will open at noon Wednesday. It will be open from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. from Thursday, June 23 through Monday, July 4.
