Tripodi Wins Independence Primary With Write-Ins

This article has been updated to correct the parties that Peter Tripodi and Susanne Donnelly are running for.

OSSINING, N.Y . – Ossining Town Councilman Peter Tripodi IV said he is "humbled and honored" that Independence Party members voted for him on write-in ballots in the September primary, making him their candidate for Town Supervisor for the Nov. 8 election.

"The fact that Independence voters wrote my name in rather than voting for my opponent sends a clear message: Independence voters wanted a true independent thinker, not a status quo politician," Tripodi said in a press release.

According to the County Board of Elections' website, Tripodi won 33 out of 62, or 54 percent of Independence party votes, while his opponent, Susanne Donnelly, a current Ossining Village trustee, won 25, or 40 percent of Independence party votes. Four Independence Party write-in votes were names other than Tripodi.

Donnelly won the Working Families primary. She got eight out of 12, or 67 percent of votes, while Don Debar got four, or 33 percent of votes through write-in ballots.

Tripodi is now the Republican, Conservative and Independence parties’ candidate for Ossining Town supervisor, while Donnelly is the Democratic and Working Families candidate.
