Think Summer! Briarcliff Recreation Registration Begins Monday

BRIARCLIFF, N.Y. - It's time to think summer in Briarcliff.

Summer program registration will begin Monday online or at the recreation office, highlighted by the youth and adult tennis lessons and pool programs.

For children, group lessons are offered for in five different age groups: Red Ball ages 5, 6 and 7; Orange Ball ages 8, 9, and 10; and Yellow Ball ages 11 and up. All classes feature a one-to-six ration of instructors to students with a maximum of 12 players per class.  

The first period is May 13 through May 31. Period II is June 3 through 21. Period III is June 24 to July 12. The final period is July 15 to Aug. 2.

The fee is $150 for six group lessons.

Group lessons are offered for adults within three different ability levels. The fee is $150 for six group lessons and the periods are the same as those for children.

All tennis lessons will be held at Solaris Sport & Racquet Club located off Route 9A in Hawthorne.

The village's water baby program is based on the American Red Cross Parent and Child Aquatics program and is designed to help develop swimming readiness in children 6 months to 3 years old.

The class is held Wednesday mornings from July 10 through July 31 and is $25 per couple.

Lifeguard training for students 15 years and older will be held four days in July. The cost is $300 or $350 for nonresidents.

Preschool aquatics is small group training for children between the ages of 3 and 5. It is designed to help children develop fundamental water skills and will lead to them becoming comfortable in, on and around the water. The classes are held Wednesday afternoons from July 10 through July 31 and are $40 per child.

Briarcliff children 6 and older who have a valid 2013 Seasonal Pool or Combination Permit are invited to participate in the swim and dive team. It costs $140 to join.
