YONKERS, N.Y. -- The SPCA of Westchester said several cats and some wildlife found near Bretton Road in Yonkers appear to have been poisoned.
The organization is urging local residents who live in the area to be aware and take precautions with their pets.
Although an investigation into the deaths is ongoing and the results of necropsies are pending, SPCA Humane Law Enforcement Director Ernest Lungaro advised residents with pets and children to be cautious in the event the deaths are linked to poisoning.
In the meantime, Lungaro asks anyone with information about the situation to contact the SPCA’s Animal Cruelty Hotline at 914-941-7797. All calls are kept confidential.
The SPCA of Westchester, Inc. is a no-kill, nonprofit animal shelter in Briarcliff Manor. It is the only organization in Westchester County mandated by the state to enforce its animal cruelty laws.
