CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- State Sen. Greg Ball, R,C,I-Patterson, voted Monday to pass almost two dozen laws aimed at heroin and opioid use in New York state.
Ball was appointed to the Senate Task Force on Heroin and Opioid Addiction in March. The task force was given the responsibility of closely examining addiction prevention, treatment options, rise in heroin and opioid use, and drug-related crimes.
“I was proud to serve on this task force and work with my colleagues to develop legislation to combat this epidemic,” said Ball. “The heroin epidemic that has plagued our communities must be confronted head on. It is sickening to read and hear of the countless deaths in our community. My hope is that the Assembly will act quickly to join our efforts and get to our kids, before it’s too late.”
The bills passed earlier this week pertain to the task force’s report of solutions to prevent drug use, overdoses, addiction treatment and tools to aid law enforcement while battling drug abuse in the communities.
