Mount Pleasant Secretary Still Looking For Dog Missing From Her Home

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- The search for Patches, an 18-year-old white and black long-haired chihuahua that went missing in Yorktown in November, continues.

Patches belongs to Janet Nicolai, the secretary to Mount Pleasant Supervisor Carl Fulgenzi and was last seen on Loder Street.

"Nobody has turned him in," Nicolai said. "I haven't heard one thing. It's pretty upsetting. I'm really sad that he hasn't come home. I guess I have to accept it. I really miss him."

Patches likes to play with her neighbor's two dogs and Nicolai let him out on Nov. 11. After a while, Nicolai went to look for Patches and could not find him.

She reported him missing to police and they found out someone had seen Patches running on Evergreen Street and picked him up. The person mistakenly let Patches outside and he ran away again.

Nicolai has been in contact with Yorktown Police, the SPCA and the Facebook group, Lost Dogs of Hudson Valley.

In November, Nicolai said if Patches returned to her, she'd be the happiest woman on earth.

"I adore this little guy," Nicolai said. "I will be eternally grateful. He is adorable."

Patches can occasionally be a jealous dog who wants attention. Nicolai once had a dog that was diabetic and when she would give it insulin, Patches would bark like crazy, jealous that he wasn't getting attention.

"I made believe like I was giving him a shot," Nicolai said. "He was wagging his tail and was happy as a clam. He never barked again."
