Several people running an illegal massage parlor in Ossining quickly learned not to mess with a group of local moms and other interested residents.

Over the past several weeks, the Ossining Police Department heard from dozens of residents who were concerned about a "spa" located at 141 Croton Ave., said Chief Kevin Sylvester.

"Online reviews and whispers around our community indicated that there may be some licensing issues and, worse, that a little more was going on than traditional massage," Sylvester said on Facebook.

The police began investigating and found that among other violations, some employees lacked licenses and at least one was offering "other services."

Working with the Building Department, officers arrested two people for unauthorized practice of a profession without a license, additionally, one defendant was also charged with prostitution, Sylvester said.

"If you think you're going to come into our community to pull a fast one, you should know the Ossining Moms are a force to be reckoned with (more than 1,600 of them to be specific)," the chief wrote. "We listened, we heard you, we conducted an investigation, and we made some arrests."

In addition to the arrests, officials with the Building Department found some "improvements" to the property for which a permit was required. The business was closed pending further inspections, he added.

The chief also encouraged residents to alert the department of any allegations of criminal activity in other parts of the community and they will investigate.
