OSSINING, N.Y. The village manager's office is accepting resumes for a trustee position after Janis Castaldi resigned from the board on Thursday.
"My decision to resign was of course not an easy one," Castaldi said in an email. "The time allotted to my career has grown in leaps and bounds. It was my determination I could not serve the residents of Ossining to the best of my ability. I hope to continue my political career in the future and thank all the people of Ossining who gave me their support and encouragement."
Castaldi's term was set to expire Dec. 31, 2012.
The village Board of Trustees will appoint a replacement for Castaldi in early October, Mayor William Hanauer said. The trustee seat is up election in November.
"We're planning on doing all the interviews on Oct. 3, assuming we get anyone who's interested in doing this, and then we'll appoint at the board meeting the next day," the mayor said.
Hanauer added that it is important to him to have a full Board of Trustees during the budget season.
"I don't want to go into the budget season without a complete board," he said. "It's a very crucial part of what we do."
