OSSINING, N.Y. Village officials are planning to apply for a grant of up to $38,000 to create a new community garden on Water Street by Snowden Avenue.
"A state organization has recommended that we apply for a number of grants," said village Mayor William Hanauer. "Whether or not we'll get them I have no idea."
A resolution authorizing Village Manager Richard Leins to apply for a grant from the state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation to help create the garden is expected to be passed during a village Board of Trustees meeting Tuesday night.
There is currently an Ossining community garden in Cedar Lane Park off Cedar Lane, managed by Donna Sharrett.
