Last October, Ossining resident Eric Feinstein launched a mobile app that took users on a virtual tour of the village's bicentennial sculpture exhibit narrated by the artists themselves.

Feinstein has expanded his app, including a tour for Stamford's summer art event called "Street Seats."

For "Street Seats," Feinstein recorded artists talking about their work and received a number of creative audio clips, including a techno-beat song about the derriere, and a public service announcement from the year 3014, warning us about monkeys taking over the earth.

Versions of the app have also been used in New Haven, Conn.; New York City and New Brunswick, N.J.

"Artists have really liked it," Feinstein said.

Feinstein has other ideas including having an app for a golf course where a caddy tells you the best way to play a hole. Feinstein said Ossining was his test case and wanted to create the app when he realized how fortuitous it was to have the sculptures in his backyard.

"It had been in my head for a long time," Feinstein said. "Ossining was my put up or shut up moment. It was really fun, a real grassroots effort. We've been receiving really good commentary from users and towns."

The app was even downloaded in places such as Tennessee and Florida.

Feinstein, who previously worked in sports media and runs Otocast, has lived in Ossining for 18 years. He said the app is currently in the nascent stages.

"I've only been full-time since March," Feinstein said. "My only expenses are traveling and development. I'm breaking even."

Feinstein said when anyone has questions about the app, he has them download the Ossining version. He said the village's support has meant a lot to him.

"Richard Leins (Ossining village manager) has been great," Feinstein said. He's been giving me references. Ossining is a great place to live, it needs to be visited more. I am happy to do anything to help."
