BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. A Peekskill man was arrested and charged with criminal possession of stolen property after driving a stolen jeep on Route 9 and getting into an accident, police said.
Brian Crawford, 23, hit a traffic light pole after swerving on Route 9 to avoid hitting something on July 4 at around 2 a.m., Lt. Donald Gorey of the Briarcliff Manor police department said. He was arrested for having a revoked license.
On July 7, Briarcliff police got a report of a stolen vehicle matching the one Crawford had driven from the Croton police department, Gorey said. Crawford was arrested again and charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
Crawford was released on $500 bail with a return court date of July 13, police said.
Also in Briarcliff:
A 33-year-old Briarcliff man was arrested and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree after being stopped by police for having a fractured windshield, police said.
Carlo Baldo's New York State license was found to be suspended when he was stopped on July 6 at around 5 p.m. on Marlborough Road, police said.
Baldo was released on $100 cash bail with a return court date of July 27, police said.
