NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Seven new cases of Legionnaires' disease in the east Bronx have been reported by the city's health department, according to reports.

All seven residents, currently in the hospital, have underlying health problems, according to a press release from the city's Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Capital New York reported.

The new outbreak comes just two months after an outbreak in the South Bronx that began in a hotel cooling tower, killed 12 and sickened more than 100 people, the report added.

The health department announced it had already contacted the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention and New York State Health Commissioner Howard Zucker to address the issue, according to Capital New York.

The health department reported that it has already tested nearly three dozen cooling towers in the area, according to the report.
