The recreation superintendent reports: "We are down to the wire for day camps and specialty camps -- please contact the Recreation Department for availability. Tennis permits and other permit sales are ongoing. The (village) will be partnering with other summer program providers to offer additional specialty camp programs."

For more information, call the recreation office at 914-941-6560.

For swimming pool permits and other services, the department offices will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. Modified pool hours are from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekends and 3-7 p.m. weekdays. Hours change when school is out. To purchase or renew your permits, see the pool and tennis permit information available on the village's website at www.briarcliffmanor.org.

The swimming and diving team program has started. If you are interested in joining the team, please contact the department. The program is for children ages 6-18 who already know how to swim and want to get involved in competitive swimming and diving. The team competes in the Northern Westchester Swimming Conference; the season continues through Sunday, Aug. 2.

From the library and Community Center: We are in search of volunteers, both adults and teens, who would be able and willing to man a booth/game at our annual School's Out party for children Thursday, June 25. We need the help from 3:15-5:15 p.m. Contact Amy Kaplan at agkaplan@gmail.com or 914-941-7072 with any questions or to help out.

Finally, we wanted to alert you that there may be a scam afoot. We recently were notified telephone calls are being received especially at night that the village will be shutting off water service if residents did not immediately pay their outstanding bills. Please be advised that, like other governmental agencies, our communications to you regarding taxes or water bills is in writing. Please be vigilant -- protect your own identity. If this happens to you, immediately report it to the police at 914-941-2130 and to me at pzegarelli@briarcliffmanor.org.
