OSSINING, N.Y. A boy whose hand got stuck under a rock in the Killbrook Creek was rescued by members of the fire department Thursday afternoon.
"He's out now. They pulled him up a hillside on a stretcher," said Ossining Parks and Recreation Superintendent Henry Atterbury, who watched the rescue from a distance.
The boy and a group of children that included his sisters were in the Killbrook Creek down a steep hillside behind the Joseph G. Caputo Community Center at 95 Broadway, Atterbury said.
Members of the fire department dropped lines down the hill to pull the children, other than the boy who was trapped, up.
"They seemed to be ok, a little bit wet," Atterbury said.
A dispatcher for the Ossining fire department, Don Apostolico, said the boy who was trapped was transported to Westchester Medical Center for treatment.
The Killbrook Creek starts north of Dale Cemetery and flows down into the Hudson River. Since the hillside next to the stream by the community center is very steep, the children probably got into the water at some other location, Atterbury said.
Ossining police said at around 4:15 p.m. that they had no information to release about the incident.
