Festive Stroll, Songs For Weekend Around Briarcliff

OSSINING, NY. – A stroll through homes decorated for the holidays, a holiday sing along and a talk on sustainable living are some of the events planned for this weekend. Here are the details:

Friday

Festive Stroll of Homes, Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. – noon and 2:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Representatives from Juliska, a tabletop design company, is collaborating with Holbrook Cottage on Pleasantville Road in Briarcliff Manor to put on a two-day event during which people are invited to get inspired for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Hannukah by visiting three beautifully decorated homes in Briarcliff. Tickets for the stroll cost $40, and reservations are required. There will also be a Green Market Luncheon at the Iron Horse Grill at 20 Wheeler Ave. in Pleasantville on Friday and Saturday. Tickets or both the luncheon and the stroll cost $150. All proceeds from the stroll event, as well as a percentage of the Holbrook Cottage sales on stroll days, will go to the Family Learning Center, an organization that provides parent-child programs for recent immigrants.

Saturday

Sing For A Supper, 7 p.m – 9 p.m.

Singers and musicians from All Saints Episcopal Church, the Ethical Culture Society of Northern Westchester, Kol HaShalom, the Old Mill Singers, St. Paul's-on-the-Hill and Trinity Church will perform and lead the audience in singing at the Trinity Episcopal Church at 7 South Highland Ave. in Ossining. There is no charge for admission, but a collection will be taken to benefit the Ossining Food Pantry. Attendees are also asked to bring cans of tuna or salmon packed in water, or canned fruit or vegetables.

Sustainable Planet, 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

This program at Teatown Lake Reservation is designed to motivate people to take their next steps to contribute to a more sustainable planet. People can learn to become a role model for their family and a leader in the community in promoting a healthier, but changed world. A snack will be served, but bring your own plate, cup and utensils. The program, which is for adults only, is free for Teatown members and costs $5 for non-members. Teatown is located at 1600 Spring Valley Road.

Torbank Nursery School Holiday Boutique, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

There will be crafts, food and services from local vendors at this holiday event. Torbank Nursery School is located at 108 Pinesbridge Rd. in Ossining.

Sunday

Spines and Furs, 1 p.m. – 2 p.m.

Come to Teatown Lake Reservation to meet some animal ambassadors and find out why some of them are prickly and some are cuddly. This program, geared towards children accompanied by a caregiver, is free for Teatown members and costs $5 for non-members.

KJ Denhert and Her Live Band, 2 p.m.

Ossining musician KH Denhert and her band will perform urban folk and jazz at the Ossining library's Budarz Theater. The event is free. Doors open at 1:30 pm. and seating is on a first come, first served basis.
