BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. Weather, a rabid fox and children were among the themes for our top 10 photos for 2011.
Topping our list is a photo of two teens checking out the damage on Jackson Road after Hurricane Irene. Then comes a photo of what was a month-long eye sore for Briarcliff residents: heavy machinery on the strip of North State Road between Route 9A and Pleasantville Road as workers repaired a large hole that formed during Hurricane Irene.
Next is a photo of a rabid fox that died from poison during a fight with a dog after spending a night in a Briarcliff family's bedroom. Then comes a photo of a woman with a trunk full of firewood that she bought to try to warm up after her home lost power in the October snow storm.
Fifth is a photo of Briarcliff High School graduates at their graduation ceremony, one of whom is wiping a tear from her eye. Sixth is a photo of Briarcliff Middle School boys having lunch in the cafeteria. Seventh is a photo of eight-year-olds enjoying cotton candy at the Briarcliff School's Out party in June.
Eighth is a photo of the winding staircase foyer in the mansion on Brooke Astor's Holly Hill estate which is slated to be sold for approximately $7.5 million. Ninth is a photo of a woman waiting to sample barbequed chicken in front of Holbrook Cottage during a First Thursday street festival in July.
Wrapping up the gallery is a photo of a boy petting Flower the lamb during Briarcliff's Harvest Festival in October, while his sister patiently waits her turn.
