Flushing -- which began Monday and runs until Thursday -- starts about 9 a.m. and ends about 4 p.m. each day, Zegarelli said in his June 26 report.

Since the process could cause water to become discolored, residents are advised to avoid doing their laundry during those days, until 5 p.m.

Past laboratory testing has shown that the water, though cloudy, did not contain any harmful bacteria, Zegarelli said.

The areas to be flushed are Long Hill Road West, from Sleepy Hollow Road to Scarborough Road, and all side streets, including Cottonwood Lane, Purdy Court, Nichols Place, Holly Place, Law Road, Quinn Road, Hirst Road, Shellbark Lane, Tanglewood Circle and Hidden Oak Road.
