Village Hydrant Flushing: In this upcoming hydrant flushing phase, running from Monday, July 27 to Friday, July 31, starting at about 9 a.m. and continuing to 4 p.m., our crews will flush individual hydrants in specific areas. Again, this is always subject to daily events and conditions. The areas to be flushed are: Elm Road, Tuttle Road, Alder Drive, Butternut Road, Plumwood Road, Lodge Road, Central Drive, Central Drive West, Locust Road, Cypress Lane, Cherry Hill Court. As a result of this work, residents can expect discolored water at any time, but particularly, during the day starting from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Even if discolored, continuing laboratory testing has indicated that in the past the water has contained no harmful bacteria.

From Recreation and Parks: We have completed week three of a very active 2015 Summer Camp program.

Pool Hours: Because of Summer Camp, pool hours remain to 12:45 – 7:30 p.m. on weekdays through Aug. 9. Weekend hours remain 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. through Aug. 9. Please note that the pool schedule has its last swim/diving team home event on Sunday, Aug. 2: Pool opens at noon and closes at 4:30 pm

Basketball Hoop: Located at Law Park Tennis Court #4, this added recreation aspect is for pool patrons and only open on weekend afternoons. Access is from the newly installed gate on the pool side area. We welcome its use but ask that you respect permit holding tennis players.

From the Library and Community Center: Tonight’s Friday Night at the Movies” presents "McFarland USA" (PG) at 7:30 p.m. Please note our later start time for summer. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

Heroes in History Family Night: This Wednesday, July 29 from 6:30 - 8 p.m. Every area of the library will be devoted to a different hero from history with different activities, games, and crafts to learn about each hero. This event is intended for both preschool and elementary-school-aged children and their parents. Teen volunteers to help out at this event are welcome.

Book Discussion Under the Stars: I Am Malala by Malala Yousafzai on Tuesday, Aug. 4, at 7:30 p.m. Join us in the Law Park Pavilion enjoying a warm summer night to discuss this powerful memoir by the young Pakistani girl who won the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize. If you are interested in attending, please contact Shelley Glick at sglick@wlsmail.org to obtain a copy of the book.

Briarcliff Manor Pine Forest & Wetlands Reclamation Project: Join us every Saturday at the Briarcliff Youth Center at 1:30 p.m. This is a grassroots community effort to "take back" the beautiful Pine Forest and wetland area from various invasive plant species located between the Youth Center and the Law Park Field. Volunteer by bringing gloves, loppers, hand pruners, pole saws/pole pruners, rakes, weed-whackers and protective glasses, and let's all work together to make a difference.
