BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y . - A meeting to present information on contamination and remediation of two athletic fields in the middle school/high school complex is scheduled for Thursday at 7 p.m. at Briarcliff Middle School.
Topics that will be covered include understanding the order of consent from the state Department of Environmental Conservation, deciphering the soil sample report, the toxicology report, standards for remediation, restoration options and remediation funding.
The meeting was originally scheduled to take place over two nights in September, but was postponed because the district had not been able to find a toxicologist to interpret results of field testing. Stuart Mattey, the assistant superintendent of business and technology for Briarcliff schools, said the meeting was changed to take place in one night instead of two because school officials thought it would be easier for people to make it to one single meeting.
