BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. The Scarborough railroad station is spruced up for fall after Briarcliff Manor crews spent the weekend clearing weeds and repairing several street lamps.
Dozens of lights lining parking spaces had burned out over the past several months, and residents were concerned about growing vegetation in the area, Briarcliff Village Manager Philip Zegarelli said. Crews cleaned up the area earlier this year but weather conditions cut the work short, Zegarelli said. The work was completed Sunday.
Its a little difficult because with the way parking is down there, crews have difficulty getting in that area, he said. So some weeds were becoming overgrown, and it had been a little while since some of the bulbs in the lamps were replaced. It got to the point where we had to say, 'We need to get this thing done now.'
Crews would also be involved with spring cleaning in the area, Zegarelli added.
In the spring well probably look into doing some additional work, he said. We try to get to it once in the spring after the winter storms have gone.
The Scarborough Metro-North Railroad station serves Scarborough and Briarcliff Manor on the Hudson Line, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
