BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. The Feb. 15 meeting of the Village of Briarcliff Manor Board of Trustees has been cancelled.
Village officials said the board would not meet this week and instead will next meet during a scheduled work session at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 28 at 1111 Pleasantville Road. The board previously met on Feb. 1 for a regular meeting.
Village Manager Philip Zegarelli also issued a report this week. In his report, Zegarelli said that due to moderate temperatures, the snow removal and salt costs for the department of public works (DPW) are significantly less than this time last year. Therefore, given the ability to do so, our DPW is targeting areas of clean-up, repair and rehabilitation that we would not normally be able to address during a more traditional winter, he said.
He said the above normal temperatures and lack of the extensive, traditional snow cover has created problems for local playing fields like the Club, Chilmark, and McCrum that havent been given the usual winter season rest and need to be closed for maintenance.
Accordingly, I have directed our DPW / parks departments to post signs and cause the closure of the field areas to protect them until further notice, he said. Thereafter, we will re-seed, fertilize and groom our fields for the spring.
Zegarellis full report can be viewed at the Village of Briarcliff Manors website .
