Body Found in Illinois Not Lauren Spierer, Police

EDGEMONT, N.Y. — The police of Bloomington, Ind., said that the body of a woman found Monday afternoon in Bloomington, Ill., is not Lauren Spierer, according to an article published on the Herald Times Online.

“All I know is that we did make contact with the investigators there, and determined there is no connection to our situation here,” the article quoted Bloomington, Ind., police Capt. Joe Qualters saying.

The body didn’t present any clear signs of trauma, the Associated Press reported.

Bloomington, Ind., the town where the 20-year-old Edgemont native and Indiana University student Lauren Spierer disappeared four months ago, is 160 miles far from its Illinois namesake. The Herald Times Online mentioned that Bloomington police has been checking on female bodies discovered in other counties and states.

Spierer was last seen around 4:30 a.m. on Friday, June 3, walking home after a night of partying. Her parents, Charlene and Robert Spierer, who practically moved to Bloomington, have been searching for her since then, as well as promoting fundraisers and other events to keep her daughter’s disappearance in the public eye.

During the time Lauren Spierer has been missing, there have also been several demonstrations of support in her Edgemont community, such as a walk in Scarsdale last month.

Some of Spierers’ friends and neighbors recently expressed hopes that Lauren Spierer will still be found.
