OSSINING, N.Y. An international bazaar, a book sale, a jazz concert, a hike and a children's program with animals are all planned for this weekend. Here are the details:
Maryknoll Sisters' International Bazaar, 10 a.m. 4 p.m.
Fundraising annual bazaar will feature handcrafts from locations where the Sisters work, including Africa, South and East Asia, the Pacific Islands and the Americas. There will also be a book signing with Claudette La Verdiere, author of "On the Threshold of the Future: The Life and Spirituality of Mother Mary Joseph Rogers." Rogers is the founder of the Maryknoll Sisters, the first U.S.-based congregation of Catholic women dedicated to foreign mission. The Maryknoll Sisters Center is located at 10 Pinesbridge Rd.
Friends of the Ossining Public Library Book Sale, Sat. 10 a.m. 4 p.m., Sun. 1 4 p.m.
Gently-used copies of classics, children's tales and more will be for sale in the lower level of the Ossining Public Library at 53 Croton Ave. Proceeds of the book sale will benefit the library.
Teatown Lake Reservation Fahnestock hike, Sat. 10 a.m.
Join Peter Meskin of Club Fit and a Teatown educator on a moderate to strenuous hike up Candlewood Hill in Fahnestock State Park. Meet at the Jefferson Valley Club Fit parking lot opposite Toys R Us. Bring lunch and water. Cost is free for Teatown members and $5 for non-members.
Teatown Animal Adventures The Misunderstood, 1 2 p.m.
Meet some of Teatown's animal ambassadors and find out why they get a bad rap. Program is for children accompanied by a caregiver. Teatown is located at 1600 Spring Valley Rd. Cost is free for members and $5 for non-members.
Spirit of Jazz Benefit Concert, 3 - 5 p.m.
Singers Melissa Walker and Tessa Souter and a group of jazz musicians will perform "Songs and Strings" at the Irvington Town Hall Theater at 85 Main St. in Irvington. The concert will benefit the hospice program at Phelps Memorial Hospital in Sleepy Hollow. Tickets are $35.
