Barbecue Time Set for Thursday Night in Briarcliff

BRIARCLIFF MANOR –Briarcliff businesses are ready to entertain and feed during the barbecue-themed First Thursday night festival with special marinades, drink elixirs and music.

"What we're really trying to do is make the village a place that more people think of to come and stroll, shop and dine," said Sue Taub, owner of Holbrook Cottage gift store on Pleasantville Road. "By creating this Thursday night festival, people working late or people coming from the city can come to an atmosphere that's fun and full of energy."

Holbrook Cottage will be serving sliders and barbecue chicken for the First Thursday celebration, which will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. It will also host a Make-Your-Own-Sundae for kids to give people a chance to taste the store's gourmet dessert sauces.

Down the street, Briarcliff Seafood will be grilling as well and Wondrous Things lifestyle gift store will be serving appetizers, munchies and drinks while launching its summer sale of clothing, footwear and other items.

For music entertainment, Mike and Miriam Risko, owners of Mike Risko Music School in Ossining, will be performing, along with about 10 of their students.

There will also be several small bands performing along the commercial strip of Pleasantville Road.

"It's going to take time (for First Thursday Nights) to build," said Taub. "But each month we're seeing more people and the Mike Risko Music School performances have been a big hit."
