Residual delays stretching back miles on I-287 into Westchester remained through the afternoon commute.

The crash, which occurred just before 9 a.m., was between the Tappan Zee Bridge Tarrytown tolls and the TZB span, with backups on I-287 stretching back to White Plains, creating a Friday traffic nightmare.

Southbound lanes were initially also closed after the crash.

The driver of the dump truck was not injured, state police said.
