OSSINING, N.Y. – Almost 842 Con Edison customers remained without power in Briarcliff Manor and Ossining Thursday morning, more than a week after Hurricane Sandy brought strong winds, rain and flooding to the area. Wednesday’s nor’easter did not appear to have driven the number of outages back up.

About 6 percent of Con Edison’s customers in Briarcliff and Ossining were without power at 6 a.m. Thursday, down from 9 percent Wednesday.

In Briarcliff Manor, 564 of 2,974 customers were in the dark at 6 a.m. Thursday. The utility estimated that power would be restored by midnight Friday.

In the Village of Ossining, 203 of 8980 customers were without power, with an estimated restoration time of midnight Sunday.

In the Town of Ossining, 75 of 2,307 customers lacked electricity, with an estimate of getting power back by midnight Friday.

Across Westchester, about 10 percent of Con Ed’s nearly 350,000 customers were without power at 6 a.m. Thursday. That’s 34,033 customers in the dark, down from 36,734 Wednesday morning.

Con Ed officials said Wednesday’s nor’easter could delay their work because crews repairing overhead equipment cannot work safely in high winds.
