Briarcliff Manor Broker Lauded for Philanthropy

While some people devote a sizeable amount of energy to the money they can earn, others focus their efforts on money they can raise – for a good cause. Eric T. Lebenson falls into the latter category.

A Briarcliff Manor resident for 35 years, Lebenson, an associate broker with William Raveis Legends Realty Group, was recently nominated as a “Man of the Year” candidate for the Westchester/Hudson Valley chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).

Candidates for The Man and Woman of the Year campaign compete for the title -- which is judged solely on a philanthropic basis – for their success to generate funds. Each dollar raised counts as one vote during the 10-week campaign, which began March 8 and ends at a grand finale May 18 at Renaissance Westchester Hotel in West Harrison.

The male and female winners in each local chapter continue to compete for the national title. In 2011 the campaign raised $14.5 million in the United States.

"It truly is an honor to be working on the ‘Man and Woman of the Year’ campaign, and with the great people of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society,” said Lebenson. “The organization does so much to help patients and their families, and to search for cures for the blood cancers. My hope is to help them and spread awareness as much as possible."

Lebenson attended Briarcliff Manor schools from kindergarten through high school, where he met his wife, Dawn. They have two children, Julia and Michael.

As former president and two-time Paul Harris Fellow of the Briarcliff Manor Rotary Club, a Pocantico Hills School Foundation Board member, as well as volunteer of numerous non-profit organizations, Lebenson has dedicated his life to community service.

Marcene Hedayati, Broker/Managing Partner of William Raveis Legends Realty Group, said, “I cannot think of another person who would be more dedicated to this cause than Eric. All of us at Legends support him one hundred percent and wish him the very best.

LLS is among the top-rated voluntary health agencies, in terms of dollars, that directly fund the mission: to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma and to improve quality of life of patients and their families. More than 78 percent of LLS funds are spent on research, patient and community services, advocacy and education.
