MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -- The burger, America's quintessential comfort food, can be dressed up (think Kobe beef, an expensive cheese, a housemade bun) or down (as in simple ketchup, maybe a pickle). Anyway you flip it, it's a winner.

Years in Business: Five years, starting in White Plains. The Rye Brook WBC opened in 2011 and the Mount Kisco WBC opened in March 2012.

Secret Behind WBC's Success: After opening White Plains restaurants Graziella's and Blue with family members, Angelo Difeo of West Harrison set out on his own to create specialty burgers. "I've been in the business my whole life,'' DiFeo said, having learned his way around the kitchen from his mother, a chef for four decades.

Worth Special Mention: Besides beef, the "build your own ultimate burgers" can begin with kobe, bison, lamb, chicken, turkey, sausage, tuna, veggies or salmon.

The restaurant also offers a host of special deals such as kids eat free on Tuesdays and an early diner discount starting at 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
