Skyfactor, whose sound Cliff Rubin classifies as "Rockoustic," will share the evening with another Dobbs Ferry-based group Greetings From Anywhere as its opening band.

"We're definitely a rock band but driven by an acoustic guitar, so there's a hint of the coffeehouse days still in our sound, but with a rock band's energy and power," Rubin said. "There definitely is an honest, poetic side to the lyrics, which are written by Bob (vocalist Ziegler) based upon his own life, so if you pay attention to the words there's a lot people can connect with there."

Rubin said Skyfactor started out as an acoustic duo, with brother Jon and Ziegler doing coffeehouse kinds of shows.

"My brother and I came from a hard rock band in the 90s called Sky Blues, so it was only a matter of time until Jon started to get tired of the coffeehouse scene and wanted to play again with a full band," Rubin said. "Jon and Bob asked me to join on bass and start looking at drummers. (We added) Jason Taylor, a co-founder of their Michigan-based college band Brother Rabbit, and he was a perfect fit."

Garcia's at the Capitol is the group's first Westchester club date. Fans can expect a band that has an old-fashioned focus on good musicianship, non-synthetic sounds, a strong live band vibe and solid songwriting.

Rubin said the new CD "Signal Strength" was recorded live as a full band at the band's engineer's studio in upstate Woodstock with extra instrumentation and vocals added studio downtown in Tribeca, along with the mixing and mastering.

"We had all the songs written and ready before Woodstock -- some had been played live for a while in front of audiences, while others came together more in the studio," Rubin said. "The process of recording in Woodstock was a big part of the project. Apart from being a creative, inspiring place to make music, we recorded all of the basic tracks live over a weekend there.  It was really a great experience to get away to really focus on the music and the energy and vibe of the band."
