Restaurant Week Comes to Ossining

Not that an intrepid restaurant-goer ever needs an excuse to dine out on great food, but if you do, Ossining is the place and Restaurant Week – March 18-31  -- is the time. However, it would behoove you to make your reservations well in advance.

That’s right, the seventh annual Hudson Valley Restaurant Week is just around the corner. And this year, it’s bigger than ever. “We were just blown away,” says Nancy Gold, a spokeswoman for the event, of the overwhelming interest. “We’re up to 198 participating restaurants in seven counties.”

Participating restaurants in Ossining include the Goldfish Oyster Bar, which features seafood favorites such as baked cod with parmesan-encrusted, spinach, steamed potatoes, tomatoes and herbs; grilled swordfish, with sautéed shrimp and herb hashed potatoes, broccoli rab and, white wine garlic sauce; and seared tuna with crispy wonton, wasabi mashed potatoes, baby bok choy and soy glaze.

But don’t limit your meals out during Restaurant Week to only one venue.Ossining’s own Okinawa Hibachi & Sushi is also participating in the gastronomic fun

Eat out for lunch ($20.95) or for dinner ($29.95), and remember to tip your server. Tax and beverages are not included in the special price.

The list of other participating restaurants in nearby towns reads like a dining guide to New York State: Bistro Rollin (Pelham), Le Jardin du Roi (Chappaqua), Ruby’s Oyster Bar & Bistro (Rye), Tarry Lodge (Port Chester), Trevi Ristorante (West Harrison), Moderne Barn (Armonk) and hundreds more.
