All of which begs the question: Where do you go when you're in a seafood medley type of mood? We've listed some spots below but would love your thoughts on area favorites.

  • Half Moon, Dobbs Ferry: Lobster rolls seem to taste better with a water view. The one at Half Moon comes chock full of meat with a light dusting of tarragon mayonnaise.
  • Gus's Franklin Park Restaurant, Harrison: Fresh food and a nostalgic setting are what you'll find at Gus's -- in Westchester since the 1930s. With the fish market next door, you know all the fish is fresh.
  • KEE Oyster House, White Plains: Fresh off the boat catches drive the food at this White Plains oyster house. Here, the lobster roll comes with Old Bay chips, adding a dash of the Chesapeake to the classic New England dish.
  • Morgan's Fish House, Rye: This ode to seafood offers a traditional Maine lobster roll filled with perfectly sized shards of fresh, juicy lobster meat, a good butter to bun ratio, matchstick fries and cole slaw.
  • Powells Burger & Clam Bar, Harrison: The ambiance alone is enough to make you want to come here: A Cape Cod-like shack with picnic tables in front for dining. Classic lobster rolls are filled with meat and a dusting of mayo on a hot dog bun. For a real lobster treat, come on a Wednesday for the $19.95 steamed lobster dinner where you can BYOB it.
  • Purdy's Farmer & The Fish, North Salem: The seafood is oh-so-fresh here thanks to the fact that Co-Owner Edward Taylor also owns Down East Seafood. The Downeast lobster roll is served warm, naked and buttered or chilled with garden cucumbers and lemon aioli.
  • Saltaire Oyster Bar and Fish House, Port Chester: The meat says it all: fresh chunks of Maine lobster served with a wave of nostalgia to make you feel like you're on a New England vacation.
  • Siegel Brothers Marketplace, Mount Kisco: Indulge in freshly shucked native lobster meat, served cold with mayo, toasted buttered potato bun to go or eat-in.
