BRIARCLIFF, N.Y. ? Residents will pay more to swim in the village pool or play a game of tennis this summer under a proposal for increased recreation permits and fees now before the Board of Trustees.

The areas of the Recreation Department that will be affected are the summer day camp programs and pool and tennis permits.

The village is proposing to raise fees for Tree Camp and Super Camp by an average of around $62. Fees for Camp Adventure would increase by an average of around $81, and Camp Horizon fees would rise by an average of around $138. Fees vary depending on the duration of the camp and whether or not residents sign up for a full-day or half-day camp. Eligible non-residents within the Briarcliff Manor School District would be able to sign up for camps for a 25 percent premium over the normal fee.

All seasonal permit fees for the village pool and tennis facilities would also increase. Permits vary in price depending on whether they're purchased for a child, adult, senior or family plan.

Neither Briarcliff Recreation Superintendent Henry Jamin nor Village Manager Philip Zegarelli was immediately available for comment Wednesday on the reasons for the proposed increases.

The Board of Trustees is scheduled to discuss and vote on the increases at its regular meeting Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Village Hall.
