At the event, six conservation organizations will co-host a meeting to discuss topics facing local landowners in the Great Swamp Watershed, according to a press release.

Participants will be invited to engage in dialogue with neighbors and conservation professionals about a variety of topics, including invasive species management, local water quality, and bird- and wildlife-friendly land care,  according to a press release.

This informal landowner event, hosted by Friends of the Great Swamp, Putnam County Land Trust, Housatonic Valley Association, Oblong Land Conservancy, Bedford Audubon Society and the Westchester Land Trust, is one of 13 similar interstate and intertown partnerships happening in New York and Connecticut as part of the Hudson to Housatonic Conservation Initiative, according to a press release. The initiative is engaging landowners in the stewardship of privately owned land that buffers local drinking water supplies or may be climate-resilient, according to a press release.

The initiative is making resources available to local landowners across a four-county region made up of Dutchess, Putnam and Westchester counties in New York and Fairfield County in Connecticut, according to a press release.

It is paid for in part through a grant awarded by the U.S. Forest Service, Northeastern Area State and Private Forestry.
