Tristen Ambrosino, 36, Longtime Belleville Resident Who Was 'Bigger Than Life'

Tristen M. Ambrosino, a Hackensack resident who spent much of his life in Belleville, died Thursday. He was 36 years old.

A fan of the New York Mets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he enjoyed poetry, puzzles, studying history, playing jokes and spending time with loved ones. Loved ones describe him as "a helpful personality and beautiful spirit" who "made friends everywhere" and was "bigger than life." 

A 2002 graduate of Belleville High School, he was the captain of the football team, rowed for the crew team and was the homecoming king. In 2010 he married Lisa Matarazzo, his high school sweetheart. 

Tristen is predeceased by his father Alphonse Lombardi and nephew Dean Caracciola. 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother, Patricia Lombardi; siblings Danielle Ambrosino and her husband Stephen Bologna, Gabrielle Caracciola and her husband Fred, Marcella Ambrosino and her companion Daniel Youssef, Nicole Ambrosino, Gerard Ambrosino and his wife Anna Marie, Michael Lombardi and his companion Christina Killian, Tricia Lombardi and her companion Jawan Boone, and Joseph Lombardi; and his nieces and nephews Adrianna, Victor, Eliana, Stephen, Juliana, Anthony, Emily, Isabella, Amelia, and Great Nephew Lorenzo. 

He is also survived by his aunt Lynda Cubellis and his cousin Tiffany Arevalo and her husband Eddie and their children Mason and Landon, as well as his mother-in- law and father-in-law Maryellen and Carmine Matarazzo;  sisters-in-laws Stacy and Gab; his extended family, friends, aunts, uncles and cousins. 

Visitation will be held Thursday at Zarro Funeral Home, 145 Harrison St. in Bloomfield, from 4 to 8 p.m. Family asks that mourners be at the funeral home Friday at 9:30 a.m. for the service at 10:30 am. The burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery, Hoover Ave., Bloomfield.
