Original: A woman was fatally hit by a truck in Essex County Wednesday night, Feb. 28, authorities said.
The woman, whose name is being withheld until authorities can notify her family, was walking along Green Street in Newburyport across from city hall just after 6:30 p.m. when she was hit by a 2016 Ford-150.
The Essex County District Attorney's Office did not say if she was crossing the street or stepped into the road.
Paramedics rushed her to Anna Jacques Hospital, where she died of her wounds.
The driver of the truck remained at the scene and cooperated with police. No charges have been issued.
