William Kenneth Freeman, 27, address unknown, was arrested and charged with first-degree assault, armed robbery, theft, and second-degree assault, according to the Charles County Sheriff's Office.

On Wednesday, Jan. 24 at about 4:40 p.m., deputies responded to a business on Mall Circle after a loss prevention officer observed a man attempting to steal clothes, the sheriff said.

The officer recognized the man as being the same subject who pointed a knife at him on Dec. 28, 2023, while he stole merchandise from the same store and fled, the sheriff said. The officer called 9-1-1.

Sheriff's deputies located Freeman and arrested him in connection with the December assault.
