Team USA won three out of four medals at the 2015 Tauberbischofsheim Women’s Foil Cadet European Cup in Germany.

An American took gold for the third straight year at the tournament as 2015 Cadet World medalist Sylvie Binder of Armonk successfully defended her 2014 title.

Binder was joined on the podium by two-time Cadet World Team member Stefani Deschner (Mechanicsville, Va.) who won gold at this event in 2013 and Natalie Minarik (Glen Oak, N.Y.) who made her Cadet European Cup debut earlier this year.

Binder outscored Minarik, 15-6, in the semifinals and Deschner won her semi with a 15-14 win against Leonie Ebert (Germany), the 2015 Cadet World Champion and Junior World bronze medalist.

Binder defeated Deschner, 15-10, in the gold medal final to become the first U.S. fencer to win the Tauberbischofsheim Cadet European Cup in back-to-back years. The win allowed Binder, who took silver at the Budapest Cadet European Cup in September, to move up to the No. 2 position in the Cadet European Standings while Deschner remains fourth.

Binder and Deschner are ranked Nos. 1 and 2 in the USA Fencing Cadet National Team Point Standings.
