The celebration will coincide with National Cancer Survivors Day. The program will begin at 11 a.m. at Colonial Terrace, the Mansion on the Hill at 119 Oregon Road in Cortlandt Manor.
The event will feature inspirational speakers, musical entertainment and lunch. The event is free for cancer survivors. Close to 150 people attended last year’s event, according to a press release.
"Celebrate Life Day is presented by Support Connection to honor cancer survivors for their strength and courage, and to recognize the contributions of families, friends and other caregivers," representatives said in a press release. "It will take place on National Cancer Survivors Day, an annual, worldwide celebration of life held in hundreds of communities throughout the United States, Canada and other participating countries. Participants unite in a symbolic event to show the world that life after a cancer diagnosis can be meaningful and productive. According to the National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation, a 'survivor' is anyone living with a history of cancer, from the moment of diagnosis through the remainder of life."
Speakers include Kendra Ekelund, a two-year uterine cancer survivor and Nancy Heller, co-founder and president of Support Connection, and 27 year breast cancer survivor.
