Razieli will present “The Art of De-Slouchology” from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

All people have a slouch spot — that space between the shoulder blades that rounds when we slump at a computer station, get very involved in a text or just feel lazy and want to collapse. This slouch spot is also the back of the heart and the root of the neck, so how one connects with this often neglected area has profound repercussions for structural alignment, emotional health, outward appearance and overall well-being.

In this three-hour workshop, participants will explore the art and science of "De-Slouchology." Through thoughtful and playful alignment-based movement, Razieli will guide participants to bring awareness and vision to their slouch spots so they can stand and sit with greater comfort and ease while keeping the back and front of their hearts open and supple. The tools she shares will enhance the experience of yoga asana and optimize movement in everyday life.

Razieli originally came to yoga in 1997 after many years of frustration trying to find a way to ease pain associated with her scoliosis. She quickly discovered that asana practice not only helped her feel better in her body but also was great training for her mind and inspirational for her spirit. She has been a Certified Yoga Instructor since 2001.

The workshop will be held at the Yoga Studio at Club Fit, 584 N. State Rpad. The cost is $45 for YTA members and $65 for nonmembers who register in advance; $55 and $75 at the door. Preregistration is requested. Register at this website. Bring a yoga mat and arrive early to check in and set up.
