BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. -- Briarcliff Manor roads and parks are set to look a lot cleaner after this weekend thanks to some community volunteers who are set to help "Stash The Trash" on Saturday.
The Village of Briarcliff Manor's annual community cleanup day is set to begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Briarcliff Manor Youth Center, 5 Van LuVan Road. Volunteers are invited to pick up supplies at the Youth Center before heading out to clean up the streets, parks and neighborhoods.
"We will have gloves, vests and garbage-pickers all available for our volunteers this year," said Kyle Peterson, the village's recreation assistant and youth center director. "It's a great way to get out and help the village look nicer."
Peterson said there may be more trash and debris around the village this year after several harsh winter storms and Superstorm Sandy.
"Debris has fallen in the village and we have garbage all over because of those big storms and those high winds," he said. "We have some volunteer groups going out but we could always use more to help the village."
The rain date for the cleanup is set for 10 a.m. Sunday, April 28. Those looking for more information are asked to call the Briarcliff Manor Recreation Department at 914- 941-6560.
