Briarcliff Recreation Department Offers Kids' Ski Lessons

BRIARCLIFF, N.Y. -- The Briarcliff Recreation Department is offering two children's ski and snowboard programs this winter.

"Hitting the Slopes" is for kids in grades 5-8 and takes place Thursdays in January, starting Jan. 9. Participants have the choice of registering for a lift ticket only, or for a group lesson along with their lift ticket.

Tickets are $300 with a lesson and $240 without one. Transportation and general supervision is included in the program fees. Food and equipment is not provided.

Parents drop their children off at the Briarcliff Manor Youth Center at 3:30 p.m. for a bus trip to Thunder Ridge Ski Area in Patterson. The bus returns at 9:30 p.m.

Registrations are being accepted on a first-come, first-served basis online and in the recreation office at 3 Library Road. Registration deadline is Dec. 20.

Thunder Ridge also is providing a special lift ticket and lesson program for children in grades 1-4. Tickets are $220 for six weekly, 90-minute group lessons; $370 if rental equipment is necessary. Transportation is not included.
