The restaurant, which Daily Voice readers voted Best Burgers in Westchester, will be offering $1.99 burgers and $1 for a pint of Pabst from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. There will also be live music and giveaways. Squires is at 94 North State Road.

Kurt Knox, who has run Squires for 32 years, is excited to see his restaurant turn the big 5-0.

"It's impressive," Knox, an Ossining resident, said. "Most restaurants don't even last three years. We offer quality food at reasonable prices. We have customers that come by multiple times a week."

Knox said he only uses the highest quality meat when it comes to his burgers, which were also honored by Westchester Magazine.

"Everything is made fresh to order," Knox said. "We keep it consistent."

Briarcliff is a great community filled with nice and loyal customers, Knox said. He said it's amazing when customers he remembers as little kids now bring their children into the restaurant.

"The community has gotten a lot bigger, but it's still the same," Knox said. "It still has that community feel."

Running a restaurant can be challenging, Knox said. He works 7 days a week and rarely takes a day off, but he has the support of his wife Jayne, and staff, many of whom have worked there for more than 20 years.

"You have to achieve that same consistency every night," Knox, who has worked at restaurants since he was 15, said. "It can be hard for your family."

Diners love the Ultimate Burger which features four slices of cheese and a fried egg on a brioche roll. Also popular is the Smother Burger, with sauteed mushrooms and onions in worcestershire sauce with melted Swiss and cheddar cheese. Prime rib on Friday and Saturday is also popular.

In March, an SUV slammed into the front of the building. No one was hurt and Knox was able to repair the damage.
